1 - Try and try again, until you kill

August 14 2012 – Wilmington, North Carolina, USA

Renowned builder in entire Uttar Pradesh, India, billionaire, owner of GCA Builders Enterprise Girish Chandra Aggarwal - GC was sitting in the hired limousine, his eyes fixated upon the report in his lap.
He did not like this new chauffer who was a last minute change before his commute. His driving was jittery and inconsistent. With remarkable control on his anger he tried to concentrate back on the report. He was there concerning his business accompanied by his wife Shefali and his friend cum partner Mukul Kumar.

He didn’t notice that a huge oil tanker overtook the limousine. The tanker reached the next right turn a few yards ahead. As the tanker was turning, limousine suddenly jumped 120 kmph pinning a shocked GC into the seat back. In an instant limousine zoomed into the tanker and before GC could even shout the car hit the tanker head on. The last thing GC could remember was that his head struck the car’s ceiling knocking him unconscious.

He woke up in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, semi-conscious, where his mind was working but body was immovable. He could listen but couldn’t respond.
He was going to be like this for another 20 days.

GC, picked up his pudding when his cell phone rang.

‘Alka’ – he addressed the girl sitting next to him – ‘keep this pudding in the kitchen. I shall take it later myself. I need to take this call’

He received the call and went out of the dining room, talking on phone.

Servants were daily relieved by 6pm. Alka prepared the dinner herself. She was GC’s adopted daughter. She kept the pudding in the kitchen and went to her bedroom.

She was preparing to retire to bed when she heard GC calling her almost shouting.

‘Coming papa’ – she shouted back and rushed towards the direction of the voice.

She found GC in the kitchen with his face colour of ash along with a much worried Narayan, his nephew, who lived with them only. She followed their gaze towards the floor to the horrifying sight of a cat lying down on the floor, pudding bowl beside her. Evidently the cat had had pudding as her last meal.

Cat was dead.

This was breaking news.

After taking his evening milk, GC suddenly fell very sick.

Luckily their family doctor was there on visit that day and he made him vomit it out.

He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him quite out of danger.

Possibly some of the servants may have played loud speakers out there and GC and his small family of 2 faced a lot of difficulty in answering the media people and convincing them that there is no conspiracy behind all this. Milk was not good and made GC very sick.

In fact, on GC’s request, family doctor got the vomit examined.

It contained traces of poison.

September 6 2013 – GC’s residence

Today media people had taken most of their day due to the milk incident.

Narayan was tired but happy. Despite of an extremely busy day, he had managed to close a huge deal of a factory construction and his uncle GC had given him a vintage wine bottle from his personal collection. It was exclusive 50 years old wine.

He could not wait to open the sealed bottle. He had retired into his room and tasted the wine. It was excellent! He had taken some more before going to bed.

It was around 11:30 PM when he felt as if his chest is in the grip of a vice. He fell short of breath and slowly his condition deteriorated. With much difficulty he could only manage to dial Alka’s number.

Alka was in her room.

Finally he was rushed to the hospital and was saved. Doctors said that the poison in the wine could have killed him in another few hours if he was not brought under medical care.

The questions troubling Aggarwals were obvious.
Who is doing this?
How could poison be administered in a sealed wine bottle?
